FETI

The way we try to communicate with extra terrestrials reveals as much about our human sense of universal ideas and universal technology as it does our ideas about non-human intelligence. FETI (Formats of Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) is uses SETI's research as a jumping off point for exploration about our assumptions of universal formats and communication strategies. The grid, the page, the visual, the left to right registration, symbol to concept connections--all of these are extremely human communication tactics. And these graphic inclinations are seen even clearly through our assumptions of them as inter-terrestrial constants.
